Five mistakes that cost companies good candidates
Strong applicants often drop out of a hiring process for reasons that are easy to fix.

1. Vague job descriptions. If candidates cannot tell what the role involves, the best ones will not apply. State the main duties, required skills and reporting line clearly.
2. Slow responses. Good candidates usually have other options. Acknowledge applications quickly and keep each stage moving.
3. Too many interview rounds. Every extra round adds delay. Decide in advance who needs to meet the candidate and combine interviews where possible.
4. No feedback. Candidates remember how they were treated. A short, respectful update protects your company's reputation, even when the answer is no.
5. Skipping verification. Moving fast should not mean skipping reference and background checks. A bad hire costs far more than a few extra days.
